RECREATION

At CHC we have a range of indoor and outdoor facilities for staff and visitor recreation and leisure activities.

In the main CHC Staff Club there are facilities and equipment for badminton, table tennis and caroms. (Caroms is a very popular table game in Bangladesh. It has some similarity to snooker except that the players use their fingers to shoot counters around the board!). Outdoors it is usually possible to find some enthusiastic support for a game of football or even cricket.

Leisure time can be spent shopping at the local bazaar, or visiting the weekly tribal market across the river. Other outings to the Jhum Restaurant & Tea Garden (by boat or car) or to more distant beauty spots like the National Park at Kaptai or Rangamati can also be arranged. Foreigners require permits (and often a police escort) to travel beyond the hospital, but with sufficient notice these can usually be arranged.
